Me in Athens, Greece, at a moment when the food was on point, the wine was perfection, the company was five-star and my hand ever-so-perfectly hid my double chin. (Thank you, bestie, for capturing the joy.)

About the Author

Hey there. I’m Jessie.

I’ve spent my 48 years wearing an oddly wide range of hats. To spare you the clichéd list of “I’m a mom, a wife, a businesswoman...,” I’ve ticked them all off (in chronological order because I can be anal like that) in the footnote below. Dig in if that’s your jam.

The long and short of it is that I have basically lived a lot in my 48 years—the good, the bad and the ugly. But somewhere around right about now, despite having built a perfect-on-paper life, I’m realizing that I’m not entirely sure who I really am, what I actually like doing or who I want to become.

And by no means does this realization make me special. One of my many therapists, Dr. Sobel, used to end every session by telling me, “You’re not unique.”

He wasn’t being a dick. He was merely reminding me that my stumbling blocks are shared by many. I know there’s a whole lot of us out there waking up in the morning and proclaiming, “I no longer recognize myself,” in our bathroom mirrors.

So I started all good(ish).

It’s a place for me to figure some stuff out. Middle life. Life in general. Who I’ve been, who I am and who the heck I might want to be next. I’m doing it through essays, articles and whatever the my hat-wearing brain feels like putting out there.

I hope you get a good laugh, maybe some inspiration or find a compadre in me.

’Cause remember, you’re not unique.

(And I promise, I’m not being a dick.)
